So, what’s going on with APPX 4.3.0?
This is my first blog posting to this category so this may be a little longer than my future postings. I picked APPX 4.3.0 as my topic since that’s where R&D is spending all it’s efforts and there have been a number of questions concerning the status. Enough of that, let’s get on with it!
Development is complete for the release. We have some major new functionality that you probably already have heard about. A new connection manager for client/server connections, connection and data encryption options using SSL certificates, updated database interfaces, source code control features for application design, new audit logging features, PDF output enhancements, and a slew of bug fixes and other minor improvements.
We have frozen the feature and bug list for the release and are working on doing internal testing of all the changes and improvements before going to beta. I’ll use this blog to try to keep you updated on the status and progress of our testing.
Stats for 4.3.0? Looks like we have 23 new pieces of functionality and 163 bug fixes to test. This week our testing has been focused heavily in the area of PDF reports. This is looking pretty good. We’ve found a few very minor formatting issues so far that are being tweaked.
All of this new functionality and these bugs have been tested already as part of the development effort. The testing we are doing now is to confirm that all of these changes have made it into the final build of the product and that code changes for individual items are playing nicely together.
That’s a quick snapshot of where we are right now in the process. I would love to write more, but I also would love to get back to testing. If you have comments please post them. I do appreciate feedback, both good and bad as long as it’s offered in a constructive way.
