Happy New Year from the team at APPX Software!
We had a good 2011 thanks to all of you. Our Keys to the Kingdom class and 20th Birthday Conference held last October were a big success. Thanks to all that attended. As for 2012, there are a number of projects underway:
- The first is the continuing development on APPX Release 5.1. We know that a number of features of 5.1 are awaited by customers. We have heard you and will stay focused on its development until it is ready to go.
- The second is the development of AXAEM, the Open Source Archives application. We plan to finish the first release of the application this Spring for delivery this year.
- Another initiative is the Consulting and Services effort. APPX Software has a number of offerings that can make your operations or applications better than today. We can help you tune your system, plan and perform upgrades, develop applications to your specification, modernize screens and outputs, produce customized reports, and a myriad of other services. Please check the Services tab on our website for more information. We would love to work with you to better meet your customer’s needs.
- Lastly, a new APPX Software website is about to go live this month. We hope you take a look, and let us know what you think!
We look forward to hearing from you. Let us know what you are thinking and keep in touch. Thanks.

Last night, we upgraded our Internet connection. We now offer download speeds of up to 4 Megabits. Our previous download speed was 1.5 Megabits. So, downloads of APPX and other related products should now be much faster. Access to the APPX web site and the other support sites such as the FAQ, the message board, the blog, the bugtracker system, and the support ticket system should also be significantly faster.

APPX Software, Inc., of course, is a company. Specifically, APPX Software, Inc. is a corporation incorporated in the State of Florida. But, simply saying that APPX Software, Inc. is a company doesn’t really tell you much. A company is actually defined by the people who work for the company or otherwise contribute to the success of the company. In our case, we have a talented, dedicated group of individuals who develop and support our products. These individuals are, collectively, the “company”. When you think of APPX Software, you are probably visualizing an entity comprised of the collective talent and personality of all of these various individuals. So, to answer the question of “who” is APPX Software, Inc. the answer is as follows:
- Administration
- Steve Frizzell, President
- Al Kalter, VP of Reseller Services
- Joe Ortagus, Operations Manager
- Brenda Frizzell, Administrative Assistant
- Sue Kalter, Receptionist
- Karen Arigo, Account Payable
- R&D
- Pete Brower, Director of R&D
- Nolan Smith, Programmer Analyst
- Jon Swinkendorf, Programmer Analyst
- Conjectrix, Inc.
- Consulting Services
- Gary Rogers, Director of Consulting Services
- Jeff Prentice, Programmer Analyst
- Pat Zaborky, Programmer Analyst
Some of you may wonder why Conjectrix, Inc. is listed in the R&D group. Several years ago, Korry Douglas and his wife, Susan, formed Conjectrix, Inc. as a consulting business and Korry resigned to devote his time to his own company. APPX Software, Inc. outsources a portion of its R&D with Conjectrix, Inc. So, even though Korry is no longer an employee of APPX Software, Inc., he is still actively involved in R&D at APPX Software, Inc. as a consultant of Conjectrix, Inc. and continues to make a significant contribution to the R&D effort at APPX Software, Inc.

The APPX blog is now officially up and running. I’m not sure where this blog is going. Time will tell. I asked Joe to set up a blog site because I felt that we sometimes weren’t communicating as effectively as we should with our customers, resellers, and other members of the APPX community.
